Our Strategic Partners

Spokeo based in Pasadena, CA (Southern California) is a search engine with a mission to organize the world’s public information around people. Spokeo’s technology aggregates and organizes people-related information from phone and address directories, social networks, celebrity photo libraries and other public sources, allowing users to search for friends, family, celebrities, public figures, and business contacts.

Mixed Roots Foundation has teamed up with Spokeo to present the first ever Spokeo Search Angel Awards initiative that recognize volunteer searchers that give of their time and resources to help adoptees find their birth families. Mixed Roots in partnership with Spokeo will also be establishing a Search Angel Fund that will provide ongoing grants to help offset costs costs that search angels incur while searching.

San Francisco Giants is a major league baseball team that is based in San Francisco, CA. The SF Giants won the baseball World Series in 2010.

Mixed Roots Foundation has partnered with the SF Giants to present the first ever Adoptee Night taking place on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 where anyone who has been touched by adoption, comes out for a night of baseball.  Mixed Roots Foundation hopes to replicate this special night at other major sports teams games across the country. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated back to the Foundation.

Mobile Beacon is a nonprofit technology organization based on the East coast – Johnston, RI. Mobile Beacon continue its long-standing history of helping educational institutions, other nonprofit organizations including government and social welfare agencies by offering technology assistance grants for high-speed Internet access.

Mobile Beacon has donated a year of 4G broadband service, so it will allow Mixed Roots Foundation to live stream all of the events that will take place in the upcoming year including the Adoptee Comedy Show, Adoptee Night with the SF Giants and other special events. Mixed Roots Foundation hopes to leverage this partnership and offer the same technology as a resource to other nonprofit organizations with in the adoptee community in order to further the mission of promoting and supporting organizations that serve as a resource to the adoptee community and their families.

Ustream is an online streaming platform that is based in San Francisco, CA.

Mixed Roots Foundation has partnered with Ustream to stream all of their events online, so that individuals who are not able to attend the various events in person, they will be able to watch the events online. The first streamed event will be the Adoptee Comedy Show that will be taking place on Monday, May 21st at the Punch Line Comedy Club in San Francisco.

23andMe is a leading personal genetics company dedicated to helping individuals understand their own genetic information through DNA analysis technologies and web-based interactive tools including the company’s Personal Genome Service enabling individuals to gain deeper insights into their ancestry and inherited traits. 23andMe is based in Mountain View, CA.

23andMe will be donating Personal Genome Service subscriptions at the Adoptee Comedy Show taking place on May 21, 2012. In addition, 23andMe will be a leading DNA partner to help launch the Global Adoptee Genealogy Project as well as a portion of proceeds from 23andMe will benefit Mixed Roots Foundation allowing those adoptees in need have more access to these important DNA testing services.

Holiday Inn – Fisherman’s Wharf (San Francisco) is based in San Francisco CA, and is considered one of the best places to stay within the City by the Bay.

The Holiday Inn – Fisherman’s Wharf will serve as Mixed Roots Foundation’s Hotel Board Partner in providing complimentary meeting services for all of the Foundation’s meeting needs.

Punch Line Comedy Club – San Francisco is based in San Francisco CA, and is considered one of the top premiere comedy/Live Nation venues in the SF Bay Area.

Punch Line Comedy Club – San Francisco served as the host location for Mixed Roots Foundation’s first Adoptee Comedy Show Benefit that featured all professional comedians who are adopted. All ticket proceeds benefited the foundation in helping to promote and support adoptees and their families.

Family Tree DNA is based in Houston, Texas, the world leader in Genetic Genealogy. Family Tree DNA offers affordable DNA tests to allow people find other individuals with whom they share common ancestors. The primary goal is to help genealogists advance their research that will help adoptees find more about their biological families.

Mixed Roots Foundation has partnered with Family Tree DNA in providing exclusive discounts to adoptees on common DNA tests that will allow them to learn more about their biological and cultural roots. Family Tree DNA will also donate DNA testing kits at the Adoptee Comedy Show taking place on May 21, 2012 as well as a portion of proceeds of their sales will go back to the foundation. Family Tree DNA will also serve as the main host of the Global Adoptee Genealogy Project (GAGP) database which will ultimately help grow and diversify the database, so there can be more potential matches that can be made for adoptees and their families.

College Planning Club is based in San Mateo, CA and provides membership for those in need of college planning resources from everything to identifying financial goals to accessing scholarships that are available nationwide.  College Planning Club also provides career planning and assessment tools.

Mixed Roots Foundation has partnered with College Planning Club to provide adoptees and their families free membership to the club which includes access to over 300 private colleges and universities that offer up to $42,000 in tuition reduction scholarships.

3rd Ave Sports Bar & Grill is based in San Mateo, CA and served as the host location for Mixed Roots Foundation’s first Pre-Launch Bar Fundraiser in September 2011

KoreAm Journal is a Korean American monthly magazine publication that is based in Los Angeles, CA.

For the first time, Mixed Roots Foundation became the first ever benefiting charity for their annual Unforgettable gala event that took place on December 3, 2011 at the Park Plaza Hotel, in Los Angeles, CA.

The Mixed Roots Foundation has partnered along with other Korean American and Korean Adoptee organizations such as the Association of Korean Adoptees – San Francisco (see below) in promoting more stories and content related to Korean Adoptees in the magazine publication.
