IDU Story – CeCe Moore

Identity

My name is CeCe Moore and I grew up in San Diego, CA. My connection to adoption is that I work with adoptees on a daily basis helping them to discover their ancestral roots.

Diversity

I am Caucasian – I am an “American Mutt”, my heritage includes 25% Finnish, 12.5% Norwegian and 12.5% English. The rest is a mixture of genetic contributions from ten or more different European regions.

Growing up, I lived with my three siblings, my grandmother and my parents who were married for 50 years. Now I live with my 7 year old son and my fiancé.

I studied Music and Theatre on a full scholarship at USC. I was a professional actress, model, singer and host for many years before becoming a mom. Now, I am a professional genetic genealogist and write on the popular blog Your Genetic Genealogist. I am also a member of Mensa.

One thing that is unique about me is I spent this first part of my life as an artist and I now spend my days immersed in the health & scientific field of genetic genealogy!

Unity

I currently live in San Clemente, CA.

I am a passionate supporter of the adoptee’s right to know their ancestral heritage and to gain knowledge of their biological roots. I feel strongly that to know who you are and from where you came is a universal right and it is wrong to deny it to adoptees.

How I am giving back to the community is by helping adoptees discover their roots through DNA testing. I dedicate countless volunteer hours to this cause by working with adoptees to interpret their DNA tests on a daily basis. I endeavor to spread the message that there is hope for adoptees searching for information about their origins, even when they are at a dead-end with documentary evidence. Happily, I have assisted a number of adoptees discover their biological families through DNA testing.
